Failsafe Controller
Redundancy in the Alpiron Suite system is achieved through the establishment of a Failsafe Controller to back up the primary Alpiron Controller. In the event of an Alpiron Suite Controller failure the Alpiron Suite Failsafe Controller will wake up all controlled servers and will notify the IT Administrator by email and SMS.
To establish an Alpiron Suite Failsafe environment, two Alpiron server instances must be installed on two separate server devices. The first instance will be configured as Primary while the other will be configured as Secondary instance; at the same time the Secondary instances will be told which is the Primary instance. During normal operations, the Secondary instance will monitor the Primary, making sure it is well and running. In case of failure, the Secondary instance will take over as to be a Primary and start controlling and executing policies.
Panic Mode
In the event that the server hosting Alpiron Controller fails (and the system is not running Failsafe), it is possible to start all servers/workstations by opening a “Panic File” directly from the Alpiron Console.
Panic Mode functionality requires two steps from the administrator:
- Save server information to a “Panic” file using the Alpiron Controller server.
- In case of emergency, start all controlled devices by using the Panic File saved in the first step.
- To maintain this function, a Panic file should be saved periodically in order to include recently added servers that are controlled by Alpiron Suite.

Manual Operations: Start All
In emergency situations, IT Administrators may employ Alpiron Suite’s “Manual Mode” to start all Alpiron Suite controlled servers manually from the Alpiron Console. May also be used to “Shutdown”, “Set to Standby” and “Resume” controlled servers.
Never Shutdown
Alpiron Suite’s “Never Shutdown” option from the Console can be set on any individual controlled server. This option, when set, will prevent Alpiron Suite from shutting down the associated server at any time.
Disable
Alpiron Suites’s “Enable/Disable” tool may be used to temporarily disable a current policy or to activate it again; while the policy is disabled no start or stop activities on the associated Alpiron Suite controlled server will take place.
