Alarms and Events
Alpiron Suite’s alarms and events help mitigate any possible risk to your production environment as you optimize power consumption on your controlled servers. Alpiron Suite alarms are easy to configure and maintain; first created in the Alarm Folder and then assigned to groups of servers, each alarm has an administrator-defined condition and a resulting action.
Alarm Triggers
There are two types of Alarm triggers:
State Change
State Alarms are triggered when one of the associated devices changes state, or it may be delayed to filter out false alarms. A specific alarm may be triggered on any combination of state changes. The following is a list of states on which alarms may be triggered:
- Starting up
- Failed to start
- Online
- Offline
- Unknown
- Standby
- Grace period start
- Shutting down
- Failed to shutdown
- Restarting
Counter Value
Counter Value Alarms are triggered when specific counter values becomes bigger or smaller then a defined point. Alpiron Suite offers four predefined values:
- CPU Load
- RAM Usage
- Disk
- Number of User Sessions
Alarm Events
Alarm action runs any command line specified by the IT administrator, including optional pre-defined command line parameters. In the event of an Alarm trigger, Alpiron Suite can perform any the following actions:
Alarm notification
- Execute user-defined script
- Send email to predefined addresses
- Send SMS to predefined number
- An example of an alarm + alarm action would be logging server information to a text file every time the CPU exceeds 90%.
